  • Converting demos into students

A great demo is only worth it if it leads somewhere. This article covers how to turn demo attendees into paying students.

The Demo creation screen, including instant and scheduled demos used to convert prospects into students

    In this article

    During the demo

Show real value. Teach something the learner can use immediately, listen to their goals, and make the session feel personal. A learner who leaves having already learned something is far more likely to continue.

End with a clear next step

Don’t let the demo trail off. Summarise what you’d cover next, suggest a plan that fits their goals, and tell them exactly how to continue learning with you.

    Follow up

Use Messages to thank them and recap the next step soon after the demo, while it’s fresh. A prompt, friendly follow-up often makes the difference.

    Turning interest into a booking

When the learner is ready to commit, move them into paid training — for example through a course batch or an agreed offer. See the Live Courses, Offers & Contracts, and Training Jobs & Proposals sections for how to set that up.

    FAQs

How soon should I follow up?

As soon as possible after the demo, while the learner’s interest is high.

How do I move a learner into paid training?

Through a course batch or an agreed offer. See Live Courses and Offers & Contracts for the steps.

What if they’re not ready yet?

Stay in touch politely via Messages. Some learners convert later when the timing is right.

  • Instant vs scheduled demos

When you set up a demo, you can start it immediately or schedule it for later. This article explains the difference and when to use each.

The Create Demo form showing both choices — set a Demo Date and Time to schedule a demo, or use Create Instant Demo for an on-the-spot session

    In this article

    Instant demos

An instant demo starts right away. On the demo form, use Create Instant Demo when a learner is ready now and you want to begin without setting a future date and time. It’s ideal for spur-of-the-moment interest — someone messages you, and you can demo on the spot.

    Scheduled demos

A scheduled demo is booked for a future time. You set a Demo Date, Start Time, and End Time, and invite your learners. This gives everyone time to prepare and is best when you’re planning ahead or coordinating with someone’s availability.

    Which to choose

    • Choose instant when a learner is available and keen right now.
    • Choose scheduled when you’re planning ahead or need to fit a learner’s calendar.

    FAQs

Do I still invite learners for an instant demo?

Yes — you still select or invite the learners you want to join.

Can I schedule a demo for a specific date and time?

Yes. Set the Demo Date, Start Time, and End Time on the demo form.

    Where do scheduled demos appear?

Under View My Schedule and your Calendar.

  • What demos are and why they matter

Demos are free live sessions where you show learners how you teach. They’re one of the best ways to build trust and win students. This article explains what they are and why they matter.

The Schedule a Demo screen — demos are short intro sessions tutors offer to prospective learners

    In this article

    What a demo is

A demo is a free live session you schedule with one or more learners to introduce yourself, show your teaching style, and give them a taste of what learning with you is like. It’s a low-pressure way for a learner to decide whether you’re the right fit.

    Why demos matter

Learners are far more likely to commit after they’ve seen you teach. A strong demo helps you stand out, build trust quickly, and turn interest into enrolments — making demos a key part of winning and growing your student base.

    What makes a good demo

    • Be clear about what the learner will get out of the session.
    • Keep it focused — teach one useful thing well.
    • Be punctual, prepared, and friendly.
    • End by explaining how they can continue learning with you.

    Getting started

When you’re ready, schedule a demo from your dashboard using Schedule Free Session. The next article walks through setting one up step by step.

    FAQs

    Are demos free?

Yes. A demo is a free session you offer to introduce your teaching to a learner.

Do I have to offer demos?

They’re optional, but they’re one of the most effective ways to convert interested learners into students.

    Where do I create one?

From your dashboard, use Schedule Free Session. See “Scheduling a demo session” for the steps.

  • How to book a Free Demo Session with a tutor on Tutorac

Before you hire, get on a free 30-minute call with the tutor. This guide walks you through booking a Free Demo Session on Tutorac — finding the tutor, picking a date and time, confirming, and what happens next.

    In this article

    Why book a Free Demo?

A Free Demo is a no-cost 30-minute one-on-one session with a tutor. It lets you experience their teaching style, discuss your learning goals, and confirm fit before you spend money. Tutorac recommends doing a Demo before hiring a tutor for any meaningful course or training contract.

Step 1: Find a tutor on Tutorac

Sign in to Tutorac and open the Find Tutors page (tutorac.com/find-tutors). Use the Category, Location, and Language filters to narrow the list. Read the tutor cards to shortlist someone whose skills, experience, and hourly rate fit your needs. (See How to find a tutor on Tutorac for the full walkthrough.)

Step 2: Click Book a Free Session

On the tutor card you want, click the green Book a Free Session button. Tutorac opens the tutor’s full profile page in a new tab with the Schedule a 30 Mins FREE Demo Session modal already open.

You can also reach the same modal directly from any tutor’s profile page by clicking the Schedule 30-Min Free Session button in the Book Your Free 30-Min Trial panel.

Step 3: Pick your time zone, date, and time

Inside the booking modal, fill in three things in order:

    • Time Zone — Pre-filled from your learner profile (for example, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi for India). Change it here if you’ll attend from another zone for this session.
    • Select a Date — Pick a date from the calendar. Dates the tutor is unavailable on are greyed out. Use the arrows to move between months.
    • Select a Time — After you pick a date, the available 30-minute time slots appear. Click the one that works for you.

All times shown reflect your selected time zone, so what you see is the actual time you need to be online.

Tutorac tutor profile with the Schedule a 30 Mins FREE Demo Session modal open — showing Time Zone selector, calendar for Select a Date, and Cancel/Continue buttons.

    Step 4: Confirm the booking

Click the green Continue button. Tutorac shows a confirmation screen with the tutor’s name, date, time, and time zone. You may be asked to add a short note about what you want to discuss — this helps the tutor prepare. Confirm to lock in the slot. If you change your mind, click Cancel to close the modal.

    What happens after you book

    • You receive an email confirmation at your registered address with the session date, time, and a join link.
    • The session appears in your Dashboard under upcoming sessions, with a Join button that becomes active a few minutes before start time.
    • The tutor is notified at the same time and can decline or propose a different slot if there is a clash.
    • Tutorac sends an automatic reminder before the session.
    • After the Demo, you can move forward by clicking Hire Now on the tutor’s profile, sending a Send Invite for a custom proposal, or simply messaging the tutor to discuss next steps.

    FAQs

Is the Demo Session really free?

Yes. The Demo is a no-cost 30-minute call. You will only pay if you later choose to hire the tutor or buy a course from them.

How many Free Demos can I book?

You can book one Free Demo per tutor. If you want to compare three tutors, book a Demo with each of them.

Can I reschedule or cancel a Demo?

Yes. Go to your Dashboard, open the upcoming session, and use the Reschedule or Cancel option. Please give the tutor as much notice as possible; cancelling at the last minute is poor practice and may affect future booking availability.

What if the time slots I want aren’t available?

The calendar only shows the tutor’s actual availability. If nothing works, click Cancel and send the tutor a Message instead — they can often open up a special slot or recommend a different time.

Do I need any software for the Demo?

No special install. Tutorac uses an in-browser video call. Sign in to Tutorac, open your Dashboard, and click Join on the session card a few minutes before start time.

What should I cover in the Demo?

Treat it like an interview both ways. Share your background, your goal, and your preferred pace. Ask about the tutor’s syllabus, project work, recordings, doubt-clearing, and pricing for the full course. By the end of 30 minutes you should know if the tutor is the right fit.

Does the tutor have to accept my booking?

Time slots in the calendar reflect availability the tutor has already opened. Booking those slots is normally confirmed instantly, but the tutor may still need to acknowledge or propose an alternative if something has changed on their side. You’ll be notified either way.

  • How the contract workflow works

Whether you start the agreement or the learner does, every contract follows the same path — from a draft or an offer through to confirmed, delivered work. This article maps the full lifecycle.

The Received Offers tab on Tutorac's All Contracts page — offers learners have sent the tutor, showing rate, duration, preferred schedule, pricing type and status (Scheduled / You Declined / Student Withdrawn) with View Details

    In this article

    Two ways an agreement starts

    • You send a Training Contract — you create the agreement and send it to the learner.
    • A learner sends you an offer — the learner proposes the work and you respond.

Both routes end the same way: an accepted agreement and confirmed work. You can see both at once in All Contracts & Offers.

    The Sent Contract path

A contract you create moves through these stages:

    • Draft — created but not finished (Finish Ad completes it).
    • Active — live, so the learner can accept and enrol.
    • Expired or Cancelled — the enrol-by date passed, or you called it off.
    • Completed — the training was delivered. The Enrolled count shows how many learners joined.

    The Received Offer path

An offer from a learner moves through these stages:

    • Received — the offer arrives on the Received Offers tab.
    • Reviewed — you open View Details to check the terms.
    • Accepted — it becomes Scheduled and the engagement is Hired; or you mark it You Declined.
    • Student Withdrawn — the learner can pull the offer back before you accept.

    Once it’s confirmed

However the agreement starts, once it’s accepted the engagement is Hired and you can begin teaching. You then manage delivery — sessions, attendance and payments — from your training batches. See the Demo & Live Sessions and Drive, Resources & Messages sections.

    FAQs

    Who can start a contract?

Either side. You can send a Training Contract, or a learner can send you an offer.

    When is the work confirmed?

As soon as the contract or offer is accepted — the engagement then shows as Hired.

    Where do I watch a contract’s progress?

In All Contracts & Offers — the status on each card updates as it moves through the workflow.

  • Sending a Training Contract to a learner

When a learner is ready, you can send them a Training Contract to lock in the work. Here’s how it fits into the proposal flow.

Sending a Training Contract to a learner — step 1 sets the training type, requirement, title, course, language and contract features

    In this article

    When to send one

Send a Training Contract once you and the learner have agreed on what you’ll teach — often after a proposal, a message exchange, or a demo. It turns that understanding into a formal agreement.

    Sending the contract

Open the relevant proposal under My Proposals and choose Send Training Contract. Follow the on-screen steps to confirm the details and send it to the learner.

    Tracking sent contracts

Contracts you’ve sent appear under the Sent Contracts tab in My Proposals, so you can see what’s still awaiting the learner’s response.

    What happens next

When the learner accepts, the engagement becomes Hired and you can begin delivering the training. If they want changes first, you can discuss and adjust — see “Negotiating terms before you commit.”

    FAQs

Where is the Send Training Contract option?

On the proposal, under My Proposals.

How do I know if the learner accepted?

The proposal’s status updates — once accepted, it shows as Hired.

Can the learner send me an offer instead?

Yes. See “Receiving and accepting an offer.”

  • Winning contracts: best practices

Sending proposals is only half the job. This article covers practical ways to stand out, move from proposal to offer, and get hired.

The My Proposals page with proposal and contract statuses — tracking the work that leads to winning contracts

    In this article

    Start with a strong profile

Learners check your profile before hiring. A complete, verified profile with clear skills and experience makes your proposals far more credible. See the Profile & Verification section.

    Tailor every proposal

Generic proposals rarely win. Reference the learner’s exact goal, level, and listed skills, and explain specifically how you’d help. Quality beats quantity.

    Respond quickly

Apply to fresh posts and reply to messages and invitations promptly. Learners often hire the tutors who engage first and clearly.

    Offer a demo

A free demo lets a hesitant learner see your teaching first-hand and is one of the strongest ways to convert interest into a hire. See the Demo & Live Sessions section.

    From offer to hired

When a learner is convinced, the proposal moves toward a contract or offer. Watch for Offer Received, then Review & Accept Offer to become Hired. The Offers & Contracts section explains this step in detail.

    FAQs

    Why aren’t my proposals converting?

Common causes: an incomplete profile, generic cover letters, or slow responses. Tighten all three and consider offering a demo.

Does offering a demo really help?

Yes. Seeing you teach builds trust quickly and often tips a learner toward hiring you.

How do I finalise the hire?

Review and accept the learner’s offer. See the Offers & Contracts section for the full process.
